Visitors to the Ourense Cathedral can now access its bell tower, a unique corner of the temple from which you can see magnificent views over the city of As Burgas. The Ourense temple has decided to open this space for tourist visits, thus extending the journey and knowledge of this late Romanesque church, one of the most important in Galicia and, without a doubt, the most important monument in Ourense.
The tower, whose structure is medieval but with a Renaissance façade, is crowned by the 8 Cathedral bells, all made in bronze. The oldest of these bells dates from 1700. All the bells keep ringing to announce the hours, quarters hours and half hours, in perfect harmony with each other. Each of these bells has its own name.
The ascent to the bell tower is already included in the audio guides that are part of the cultural visit to the Cathedral, with an admission fee of € 5 (there are reduced fares). For residents and other groups entitled to free visit, access to the tower will be priced at € 2.
Access to the bell tower is included in the current admission fee for the audio guides. For residents, it will cost € 2.
Coinciding with the opening of the tower, the Cathedral has renewed the content of its audio guides. The visit can already be done in Spanish, English, French, German and now also in Italian.
